This is an adult size, black half-cloak made from a crushed cotton velvet with a black satin lining, and machine embroidered with a large raven skull, feathers, and golden spirals of thread that stretch across both the front and back of the cloak.
Inspired by the fables and tales of ravens through history, fiction, and folklore as heralds of dark times, as well as their cunning, intelligent, and beautiful nature, I made this cloak as a merging of the many aspects of this incredible creature. Ravens speak to many as voices of wisdom, cunning, melancholy, and quiet, unsettling beauty, and so too does the design on this piece. It features a large raven skull on the back that is framed with scattered feathers, all connected with gusts of golden thread. A smaller pair of skulls frame the front of the cloak, with continued spirals and golden feathers.
Both the cloak and embroidery patterns were designed and sewn by me. The cloak features a tapered hem that lengthens towards the back, a large hood, interior satin lining, a hand-sewn label, and a metal clasp that has been hand sewn to the front.
Length from shoulder to front edge: Approx. 19”
Length from shoulder to back edge: Approx. 27”
Care instructions: Hand wash with cold water. Lay flat to dry on top of towel or other absorbent material. Fabric has been pre-washed however dyes may still bleed slightly.
