Holly and Oak Black Felted Capelet in Gold

This is an adult size, black capelet made from a soft felted coating material and machine embroidered with mirrored gold holly branches and oak vines, with a central antler design on the back. 

This cloak is inspired by both aspects of the sun god, known as the Oak King and the Holly King, and the push and pull of their aspects as the seasons change with each solstice and equinox. After learning their story, I was inspired to create this design, where holly and oak branches grow in both opposition and balance on both sides of the capelet. A central antler motif sits between both patterns, and the sun itself hangs above, as a unifying symbol that ties both Kings to each other throughout the cycle of each year.

Both the capelet and embroidery patterns were designed and sewn by me. The capelet features a tapered hem that lengthens towards the back, a large hood, finished interior seams with hand-sewn label, and a metal clasp that has been hand sewn to the front. 

Length from shoulder to front edge: Approx. 12”

Length from shoulder to back edge: Approx. 21”

Care instructions: Hand wash with cold water. Lay flat to dry on top of towel or other absorbent material. Fabric has been pre-washed however dyes may still bleed slightly.
